I have 22 years experience as a Pediatric/Neonatal Respiratory Therapist. My certifications are all current (PALS, NRP, BLS), in addition to the Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist credential with the National Board for Respiratory Care. I am a long time member of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and I am always studying and reviewing updates and new information for newborns and pediatrics. Overall, I have been a Respiratory Therapist for just over 30 years.
Why have I chosen to become a Doula? So many people ask me that very question. I heard a laboring mother screaming for her Doula one night at work. Naturally, I thought it was an object, something she might use for focus and relaxation. So, I demanded that somebody please give it to her. My co-workers were outdone with laughter when we had a moment to ourselves. Then I learned what I Doula does. Time passed, and I began to see more natural births, more home births, televised and filmed for YouTube. This is when my interest grew.
Now, 3 years later, I have realized that this is where I belong.
