Hi! My name is Megan, I am a Certified Postpartum Doula & trained Lactation Educator working towards my certification.
I am from a small town in central Alberta. I live with my husband and our two children aged 5 & 2. After the deliveries of both my children, I struggled during my fourth trimester. My husband was out of town for work more than he was home. I was lonely, exhausted and felt isolated. About a year after my second baby was born, my sister announced she was pregnant!! HOORAYY! This was very exciting but also very emotional news for me. Exciting because my twin sister was pregnant with her first baby which meant we would get to hang out all the time. Emotional because I suddenly got a flashback to every low, exhausting, and terrifying moment I experienced in those first few months postpartum. I did NOT want my sister to ever feel that way. I made it my mission to be there for her, night and day, whatever she needed, to help prevent her from feeling the way I did. It wasn’t until her baby was 2 months old that I had heard about Birth & Postpartum Doulas.
I began my research, attended a training course and I am currently finishing up the requirements for certification as a Postpartum Doula. I am truly passionate about helping mothers & birth people experience the postpartum they envision, because they deserve it. I believe that a plan for postpartum is just as important as a plan for birth. I look forward to providing my knowledge and support to each and every family I get the honor to work with.
