Welcome to my Canadian Doula page!
With 20+ years in birth work I’ve come to find my place firmly in support of those in the VBAC community and those birthing after a trying or traumatic birth. This has been my focus for 17 years now. We learn SO very much about ourselves in our first birthing experience; truly coming to know those things that make us feel safe, unsafe, empowered and sometimes run over. This is where our relationship begins.
I’m a young “old school” doula who still loves double dutch w my kids and lifetime friends, reading for hours or walking my 3 english bulldogs. You will find me in hoodie and Levi’s as I arrive to your home for the first of what I hope is many social coffee/tea dates prior to your birth. Comfort is born of this familiarity. We talk of your prior births, what you grew up imagining birth and parenthood to be. We also discuss your biggest insights. This is my very favourite part of coming to understand what support will look like for you. Will we be asking for wireless monitors so you can experience movement, water labour, waterbirth? Sure we can! Will we be using an epidural and using Spinning Babies/peanut ball positions to keep labour moving? Let’s do that! Will we keep joy in the room, even when circumstances arise we were hoping to avoid? Great, we will get our team on that page too.
We can go a step further and add extended lactation support, hospital grade breast pump/scale rentals, and placenta encapsulation.
Birth is a whole pregnancy journey and I look forward to walking it with you. My commitment is to provide exceptional, unbiased, and personalized support from our first meeting through our last. My ongoing education with CAPPA, DONA, Waterbirth International, BCC and INFACT continue to the cornerstone of my passion for evidence based care. This passion played out for many years as a Director on the board of the Association of Ontario Doulas, only stepping back last year to simply enjoy the benefits of membership, insurance and recognition of value with many extended benefits companies.
