The CAPPA Labor Doula Training
Ready to become proficient when offering professional labor support? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Labor Doula with CAPPA. This eighteen-hour workshop meets the first requirement of your CLD program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to provide a foundational skill base, knowledge, and perspectives on professional labor support for perinatal professionals, as well as providing training for those seeking certification as certified labor doulas with CAPPA.

Offering 18 CAPPA Contact Hours. Nursing contact hours potentially available on request.

The CAPPA Labor Doula Training Class includes the CAPPA Labor Doula Manual, and covers the following topics:

· CAPPA certification and policies

· Practical application of Scope of Practice, ethics, and integrity

· Building bridges with medical/midwifery professionals

· Modeling and teaching positive communication and self-advocacy

· Support for every stage of labor and birth

· Hands on practice of proven comfort measures and labor support techniques

· Emotional support for labor and birth, as well as unexpected events

· Hospital procedures – risk/benefit as well as alternatives and support

· Cesarean and VBAC support

· Prenatal and postpartum consultations and support

· Breastfeeding initiation and support

· Business development, marketing, and networking to create a successful career

· And much more!

 

Cost: 
$600 Training fee includes 1 year CAPPA membership and comprehensive CAPPA Labor Doula Training Manual.
$200 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit holds slot. Remainder of fee due by two weeks prior to training. If you are registering less than three weeks prior to training, there will be a $50 late fee added.

Faculty: 
This training is taught by Kenyetta Garth, BS, MS, CLD. Kenyetta is the North Carolina CAPPA Labor Doula Trainer. Kenyetta has been working with birthing individuals in Charlotte, NC for 4 years as a Labor Doula. She owns Beautiful MOMents Doula Care providing pregnancy, birth and immediate postpartum care, resources, placenta encapsulation and birth pool rentals. She has obtained her Bachelors in Child and Family Studies with a minor in a Psychology and her Masters in Psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Behavior. My education led me to support children and families in group homes, the community and Intensive Care programs. She has also been a daycare teacher and substitute teacher for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system and Montessori schools. She is also a Apprenticing Midwife who has been providing homebirth support as a Doula and a Assistant for the past 2 years. Kenyetta also hosts Community Baby Showers that is free to all and donation driven under the non-profit listed as The CLT Baby Support Alliance, where she is the Development & Volunteer Director.

Refund Policy: 
If CAPPA Faculty cancels the workshop, the entire fee will be refunded.
All other cancellations will be charged a $50.00 processing fee.
If the cancellation is made within three weeks of the workshop, no refund will be given.
Cancellations prior to training have the option of having payment applied to a training workshop given by the same CAPPA Faculty within 12 months. (Noshows are not eligible for registration transfer.) Only ONE transfer of registration is permitted. If applicant does not attend a workshop within 12 months, all fees are forfeited. A $50 transfer fee will be due upon registration of new training.
I understand I should not make non-refundable travel arrangements unless I have received confirmation from CAPPA Faculty that the training is confirmed.
In the event of hazardous weather, “act of God”, or any other travel issues making it impossible for CAPPA Faculty to hold the workshop, a makeup option will be made available.
CAPPA Faculty is not responsible for any travel expenses students may incur.
