Cynthia Tinajero

My name is Cynthia Tinajero. In 2005 I created the Mamistad New Moms Network to help first-time pregnant women share the exciting, yet daunting journey of becoming a new mom. Newly married and new to Virginia, I was diagnosed with depression in the first trimester of my one and only pregnancy. We had recently received my precious mom's diagnosis of Alzheimer's (she was only 59). I needed friends! I formed my own first-time pregnant mom group and the rest is history. My eight new mom friends changed everything for me.  An isolating and daunting time soon became a fun and hopeful one. My gratitude led me to create a few more groups.

I became a CAPPA Certified New Parent Educator (CNPE) and have been forming support groups for first-time moms ever since.  Thousands of members and hundreds of new mom groups later, we continue to see new moms struggle with PMADs (perinatal mood & anxiety disorders) and isolation.  Our increased awareness of these issues has taught us that having other moms to relate to and share the journey can be extremely helpful for moms in the early stages, and for the years that follow.  Mamistad groups are currently in the DC area, Austin, TX and Denver, CO and hopefully soon, they will be everywhere!

I've created hundreds of Mamistad Mama Tribes for moms who are due or delivered their first babies within 3-4 months of one another. The goal is to connect each circle of friends early so that they, their babies and their families can continue to bond as they move through the ups and downs of their new journeys together and form an amazing Mamistad community.

February 14 of 2024 I launched the Mamistad Podcast, Mom Chat with Mamistad, to share stories and lessons I've learned in my humble 20 years experience working with awesome new moms and perinatal experts. Contact me if you have something to share with our community!
