CAPPA Certified Labor Doula: CLD
Want to be inspired and empowered to begin or enhance your perinatal career? CAPPA instructors have in depth knowledge and follow standardized curriculums to ensure the highest quality training and most comprehensive perinatal education for CAPPA Certification programs. The CAPPA Labor Doula Training
Ready to become proficient when offering professional labor support? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Labor Doula with CAPPA. This eighteen hour workshop meets the first requirement of your CLD program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to provide a foundational skill base, knowledge, and perspectives on professional labor support for perinatal professionals, as well as providing training for those seeking certification as certified labor doulas with CAPPA.
Offering 18 CAPPA Contact Hours. Nursing contact hours potentially available on request.
The CAPPA Labor Doula Training Class includes the CAPPA Labor Doula Manual, and covers the following topics:
· CAPPA certification and policies
· Practical application of Scope of Practice, ethics, and integrity
· Building bridges with medical/midwifery professionals
· Modeling and teaching positive communication and self-advocacy
· Support for every stage of labor and birth
· Hands on practice of proven comfort measures and labor support techniques
· Emotional support for labor and birth, as well as unexpected events
· Hospital procedures – risk/benefit as well as alternatives and support
· Cesarean and VBAC support
· Prenatal and postpartum consultations and support
· Breastfeeding initiation and support
· Business development, marketing, and networking to create a successful career

Faculty:Abby’s background is in medical settings, community education and entrepreneurship. She currently has many online and in person projects for the non profit sector and her private business.
Certified Labor Doula and Lactation Educator (CAPPA): Abby works with families in pregnancy education, labor support, birth advocacy and postpartum. She provides home visits, as well as teaches to groups, to assist in childbirth preparation and breastfeeding.
Certified Childbirth Educator (ICEA): Abby teaches childbirth preparation in a relatable, intelligent way. She provides information and inspires transformation for all who experience her presentation.
Entrepreneur: Abby has launched many successful entrepreneurial projects: The Birthing Tree Cooperative, Yoga Born, Relationship Based Parenting and Modern Motherhood. She has a creative drive and is skilled in project vision and development. She is always focused on family wellness and healthy relationships.
CAPPA Faculty: Abby became a faculty trainer for the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA.net) in 2012 and travels in the Southwestern U.S. to provide the required 16 hour certification training for student doulas. See calendar
Co-Creator Yoga Born: She travels all over the US to provide 32 hours of training to prenatal yoga instructors to provide Yoga Born Childbirth Preparation classes. These classes are an innovative series that integrate yoga and childbirth preparation.
Details of Refund Policy: Refund available if cancellation is 4 weeks or more from training date.
If cancellation is between 2 and 4 weeks from training date, partial refund available (minus admin and material fees)
No refunds if cancellation is less than 2 weeks from training date.
Special consideration will be given to move your registration to another training within 12 months.
NOTE: Each student must be in attendance during the entirety of the training provided in order to receive a certificate of attendance for this Training Class.
