The CAPPA Labor Doula Training
Ready to become proficient when offering professional labor support? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Labor Doula with CAPPA. This eighteen hour workshop meets the first requirement of your CLD program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to provide a foundational skill base, knowledge, and perspectives on professional labor support for perinatal professionals, as well as providing training for those seeking certification as certified labor doulas with CAPPA.
Offering 18 CAPPA Contact Hours. Nursing contact hours potentially available on request.
The CAPPA Labor Doula Training Class includes the CAPPA Labor Doula Manual, and covers the following topics:
· CAPPA certification and policies
· Practical application of Scope of Practice, ethics, and integrity
· Building bridges with medical/midwifery professionals
· Modeling and teaching positive communication and self-advocacy
· Support for every stage of labor and birth
· Hands on practice of proven comfort measures and labor support techniques
· Emotional support for labor and birth, as well as unexpected events
· Hospital procedures – risk/benefit as well as alternatives and support
· Cesarean and VBAC support
· Prenatal and postpartum consultations and support
· Breastfeeding initiation and support
· Business development, marketing, and networking to create a successful career

Faculty: Anna Rodney is a CAPPA Certified Labor and Postpartum Doula, Hypnobirth Instructor, Happiest Baby on the Block Instructor and owner of Chicago Family Doulas and Arizona Doulas. She is passionate about teaching and providing doulas the tools they need to be successful in this amazing career. She believes that with the right tools this can be a lifelong profession. She has a deep understanding of the skill set needed to support all families and has an incredible ability to make this information tangible. Anna has supported families for the past 20 years as a respite worker, special educator, childbirth educator, agency owner and labor and postpartum doula. She is the founder and owner of Chicago Family Doulas and Arizona Doulas and has a team of over 20 full time labor and postpartum doulas. She is kind, caring, knowledgeable and professional. Details of Refund Policy: By registering and paying for this training, I understand that there are no refunds for this training. If student cannot attend this training, all funds will be held for the remaining calendar year to be applied to a future training taught by Anna Rodney (within the same calendar year). To transfer to another training, I understand that I will need to pay a $50 transfer fee. If you fail to transfer to another training within the same calendar year and fail to pay the $50 transfer fee, all funds will forfeited. If a coupon was used for the training, the student must pay the difference between the discounted rate and the regular rate if they fail to attend the original training they registered for.
