CAPPA Certified Labor Doula: CLD
Want to be inspired and empowered to begin or enhance your perinatal career? Train with the Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association, an international certification organization for Doulas, Childbirth Educators, and Lactation Educators. CAPPA trainings are designed to educate and equip the contemporary perinatal professional for a successful career in a fun, supportive, and collaborative environment. Trainings are evidence based and comprehensive, and are designed to appeal to all learning styles. Students will enjoy engaging and interactive instruction, with practical and real-world scenarios. CAPPA instructors have in depth knowledge and follow standardized curriculums to ensure the highest quality training and most comprehensive perinatal education for CAPPA Certification programs. The CAPPA Labor Doula Training
Ready to become proficient when offering professional labor support? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Labor Doula with CAPPA. This eighteen hour workshop meets the first requirement of your CLD program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to provide a foundational skill base, knowledge, and perspectives on professional labor support for perinatal professionals, as well as providing training for those seeking certification as certified labor doulas with CAPPA.
Offering 18 CAPPA Contact Hours. Nursing contact hours potentially available on request.
The CAPPA Labor Doula Training Class includes the CAPPA Labor Doula Manual, and covers the following topics:
· CAPPA certification and policies
· Practical application of Scope of Practice, ethics, and integrity
· Building bridges with medical/midwifery professionals
· Modeling and teaching positive communication and self-advocacy
· Support for every stage of labor and birth
· Hands on practice of proven comfort measures and labor support techniques
· Emotional support for labor and birth, as well as unexpected events
· Hospital procedures – risk/benefit as well as alternatives and support
· Cesarean and VBAC support
· Prenatal and postpartum consultations and support
· Breastfeeding initiation and support
· Business development, marketing, and networking to create a successful career

Faculty:
Amanda Dodson is a CAPPA certified doula CLD and HypnoBirthing Educator HBCE with over 15 years experience as a birth doula and childbirth educator. Her passion to support service members and their families during pregnancy and beyond inspired her to found the Japan Birth Resource Network in 2013 and CoFound the Military Birth ResourceNetwork in 2016. Amanda is also an Army National Guard Veteran and Military spouse of 25 years. Her husband recently retired after serving 29 years in the USMC. They spent 13 years living overseas with their 3 children, two of which were born in Okinawa. She has spent the past 15 years educating and supporting military families stateside and abroad, working to provide continuity of care for expecting military families around the world. Now Amanda is fulfilling a goal of becoming a Birth Doula Trainer after many years. She looks forward to being a part of the CAPPA community and growing the doula community around the work.
Refund Policy:
A deposit of $100 is required to hold your space with the remainder at a designated time by Amanda based on location of the training. There are no refunds except upon cancellation and a training is not rescheduled, the instructor, Amanda Dodson will issue a 100% refund. For overseas in person training, I may transfer my registration to another person with approval from Amanda Dodson and by paying a $50.00 transfer fee. I understand the course will be confirmed by the instructor in a timely manner based on training location. I understand if I make any plans prior to course confirmation by Amanda Dodson and the training is canceled, Amanda Dodson is not responsible for any expenses incurred. In the event of inclement weather, technical issues, travel concerns or other issues that make it impossible for Amanda Dodson to hold the training, a make-up date will be scheduled.
