Creating a CAPPA Member Profile

When you become an official member of CAPPA, one of the benefits you receive is the ability to make a CAPPA Member Profile which appears in our Doula & Educator Directory.

Step 1

First, you want to make sure you are logged in to the CAPPA website.  If you don’t remember your password, you can reset it.

Step 2

When you log in, you will be directed to your Account Dashboard.  If you are a paying member, you will see an option to Create CAPPA Member Profile.  If you do not have this option, either:

  1. You aren’t yet an Official CAPPA Member.
  2. Or your membership is no longer Active.

Purchase a new membership plan or renew your existing one in order to create your CAPPA Member Profile.

Step 3

When you are creating your member profile, we recommend you fill out the following information:

  • Member Name - Enter your first and last name that prospective clients can search for.  If clients often refer to you with your nickname, include your nickname in this field.  For example, if your name is Jane Doe but you refer to yourself professionally as “Jane the Doula”, you can put both names in the field.  i.e. Jane Doe (Jane the Doula)
  • Profile Picture - The recommended size is 300x300 pixels.  Any image smaller than that may appear blurry.  Also, any image other than a square may look a little different in search results.
  • Professional Title - A professional title can be something like, Labor Doula, Lactation Educator, or Nurse.  It’s not necessary to fill this field in, especially if you have multiple professions, but it appears in search results with your name if you enter it.
  • Email Address - Please use your professional email address that clients can use to reach you.
  • Website - If you have a professional website, and we recommend that you do, enter the URL here.
  • Mobile Phone - If you have a mobile phone that clients can use to contact you. Enter the number here.

  • Location - We highly recommend that people enter a location.  This is very important if you want clients to be able to find you by geographic location.  You do not need to input a direct address. Simply type your city, state, and country to get an accurate location.
  • Member Profile Information - This is the place you can write anything about yourself.  Start by writing a friendly introduction! If you have work experience, then briefly cover highlights in your career.  Include your hobbies, interests, and any other information you want your clients to know about. End with a message that encourages them to contact you!

  • Services Offered - We have a list of predefined services that clients can use to search.  Perhaps you’re a Childbirth Educator who also offers Birth Photography.  Or maybe you are a Postpartum Doula that offers Teen Support. We encourage you to check the boxes that apply, so that clients can find your specific services if they are in need!

Step 4

Press Submit and review your profile!

Editing a CAPPA Member Profile

Each CAPPA Member only gets one profile in the directory.  If you need to make changes to your existing profile, go back to your Account Dashboard.  Instead of Create a CAPPA Member Profile, the name of your profile should appear. Clicking on it will take you to a preview of your current Member Profile.

In the left corner, the option Edit Profile will appear.  Clicking on it will allow you to change any information needed!  Just remember to scroll to the bottom and click Submit to save your changes.
