Hello, I’m Vera and I have been attending births and supporting parents as a doula in Toronto since 2014. I am Certified Labour Doula (CAPPA), Postpartum Doula, Lactation Educator, Placenta Encapsulator and Hypno-Birthing Professional. My commitment is to fostering confidence in women and pregnant people to have beautiful birth experiences that leave them empowered and ready to be the kind of parent they want to be for their children. I attend births in hospitals, at the birth centre and in private homes; and some of those have been water births.
I teach breastfeeding and childbirth classes, and regularly hosts free and low-cost workshops to new parents with a focus on enviro-parenting and eco-friendly ideas for childrearing (such as minimalist living, cloth diapering, reducing waste, DIY and baby wearing).
My particular niche is in supporting single parents, mature (age 40+) mothers, non-conforming family arrangements, and unmedicated births. My additional skills include rebozo techniques, acupressure for labour and birth, and supporting birthing in water. I’ve been been told that I have a calm personality suitable for gentle birth environments. I myself am mother to 2 teen children, both born in hospital with midwives.
I’m an active member of the network of birth workers in Toronto. Doulas on Bikes is the business I co-own with my sister Mira, a similarly trained and certified doula (she’s also CAPPA certified, check out her profile too!)
