Sal Maxwell is a full spectrum community doula. Sal found her way to birthwork through a love for plant medicine. When she attended her first birth as a midwife and herbalist’s assistant in 2018, she fell in love with the power and beauty of supporting growing families. Sal trained as a full spectrum doula with Tewa Women United in 2020, and with CAPPA in 2024.
Through a trauma-informed and reproductive justice framework, Sal works with clients across northern New Mexico through all reproductive experiences, including pre-conception, fertility, abortion, infant loss, prenatal, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. Sal works with families to personalize her services in a way that meets their needs and desires, and that honors their experiences, identities, bodies, and choices. Her care is gender affirming, person-centered, sex positive, and inclusive. Sal believes in the power of community, and when we create a circle of support around pregnant and birthing people, healing happens.
