I am a California Native, new transplant to North Carolina and mom to my beautiful 2 year old girl, Autumn. I found out I was pregnant in January of 2020, after 3 years of infertility treatments, and was absolutely thrilled!  And then along came Covid 19….It changed the course of all our lives, and certainly changed my vision of what being pregnant and giving birth would be like.  Lots of uncertainty, fear, excitement, isolation and a roller coaster of emotions that year. Since my family couldn’t be there to support us after the birth, my parents generously gifted us a Postpartum Doula and little did I know what an impact she would have on our lives.  I had read all kinds of pregnancy books, had worked in childcare, and thought I was fully “prepared” to become a new mom. But the truth is, nothing could have prepared me for the last minute c-section due to breech baby, the extra days in the hospital, the breastfeeding struggles, the tongue tie, the isolation, and also all the amazing joyful moments of starting at our new baby and just falling more and more in love with every passing second.  Our Doula, Tamra, came in a few days a week and nourished us with great food, newborn education, empowered us as new parents, and supported us through some really tough moments, all with zero judgement and confidence in herself and us.  She was our “village.”

My profession up until that point had been as a personal chef and caterer.  I also love to nourish people, mostly with great food and a calm presence in their home.  I often supported new moms with food postpartum, but it wasn’t my sole focus.  Food is my love language, but I wanted to find more ways that I could support families, whether they be first time parents, or having their 3rd child. I felt a calling to do more hands on work in this field. I took the leap and decided to train with Cappa to become a postpartum doula and I couldn’t be happier to begin this journey and bring my passion for food, love of babies, and supporting new parents. It’s my turn to be the “village” for those that need it, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to do so.
