Katie is a nurse, a certified breastfeeding specialist, and CAPPA certified postpartum doula. Katie’s dedication to birthing families and maternal health has been the string tying her 20 years of professional experience through its many iterations. From nutrition to research, global to local scale, and hospital to community focus, Katie has dedicated her professional life to supporting the most positive and healthy outcomes for parents and infants at this transformative time. With two elementary-age kids of her own and years of caring and therapeutic communication training, Katie also is empathic to the hardships of parenting, familiar with the powerful force that change may have on parents and children, and the value of a deep exhale. Katie lives in Washington DC and thrives in the fresh air, walking in Rock Creek Park or camping outside of the city. She loves cooking, yoga, playing cello, and working with her hands on household projects.
