Hi, I'm Julianne!
I'm a CAPPA-trained postpartum doula, here to support new mothers and families as they transition into life with a newborn. My journey into this work began with my own experience as a mom—having my two children far from family, with little practical experience with newborns. Like many parents, I felt overwhelmed by conflicting advice online. (Side note: My first child developed a preference for nursing on my left side because of all the Googling I did on my phone in my right hand!)
Since then, I’ve committed myself to studying how cultures worldwide care for families and newborns, along with the latest science, to bring you evidence-based, practical support. As maternal and infant health outcomes continue to face challenges, I believe that postpartum support should be compassionate, informative, and celebratory. Every mother deserves to feel seen, supported, and valued as she enters this new chapter.
I know that pregnancy and birth can leave a person feeling vulnerable and deeply depleted. My goal is to snug you into your home, to help you feel truly cared for in those early days. Ideally, you can call me before delivery, and I’ll be there from your first few days home to take care of all the little things for you. You can rest in bed without worry about laundry or dishes or warming up the food your relatives packed in your freezer.
It’s always struck me that we celebrate birthdays with singing, hide eggs for Easter, and make special clothes and honeymoons for weddings—yet there’s so little ritual or celebration as a mother enters her own profound transformation. As your postpartum doula, I want to make you feel celebrated, honored, and empowered. You will have a listening ear for all your birth story feelings and practical guidance to help you feel supported as you navigate newborn care.
Here’s how I can help you:
Infant care support: I’ll provide hands-on guidance in bathing, diapering, feeding, and establishing healthy sleep patterns. I’ll also gladly teach any family members who want to learn—whether it’s the birthing parent, their partner, or grandparents.
Connections to trusted community resources: From mental health professionals and lactation consultants to housekeeping, nanny, chiropractic, and pet care specialists, I’ll connect you with resources that meet your needs.
Warm, non-judgmental guidance: I’m here for all kinds of families—whether you choose breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or have specific cultural or personal practices—and I’m committed to respecting each family’s unique path.
Engagement for older siblings: I can share activities to keep older siblings happy and entertained, giving you time to rest or a chance to enjoy one-on-one time with them while I care for your baby.
Interested in giving Elimination Communication a try? I practiced this approach to 'early pottying' for both of my children from birth with great success! My daughter was done with diapers (yes, we still used disposable diapers until they had the idea) by 18 months and my son was done before his 3rd birthday. I'd be happy to show you how we did it.
I’m also here for your furry family members! I love pets and am happy to help them safely adjust to your new baby.
I hold a degree in Health Sciences and Spanish from Kalamazoo College, and I have long been passionate about public health. Postpartum care, to me, is a vital yet often overlooked part of family health. With knowledge, care, and a focus on celebration, I’m here to help you feel supported, valued, and deeply connected to this beautiful new season of motherhood.
